Open letter to Austrian Presidency and Energy Ministers: A call for finalising the Clean Energy files under the Austrian Presidency

14 September 2018

Member States, the European Parliament and the European Commission have made remarkable progress on the Clean Energy Package to date, by amplifying Europe’s energy efficiency and renewable energy ambition and unlocking the untapped energy efficiency potential of buildings.

Now, the European technology industries represented by Orgalime are calling on Member States to strike an equally ambitious and forward-looking agreement on the proposals for a new electricity market design – in particular by laying the groundwork for Europe to successfully manage the coexistence of centralised and decentralised electricity production. This will offer the EU a unique opportunity to set a new global standard in this arena, particularly important in view of the next UN-FCCC (COP 24) in Katowice in December this year.
