Standardisation - Common Director General for CEN & CENELEC

Policies & Issues: Internal Market - Compliance, Standards & Enforcement

Orgalime represents a broad constituency of industry stakeholders active in both CEN and CENELEC’s standardisation work. We fully support the objectives of achieving greater efficiency and cost savings through increased cooperation and common administrative services and facilities and their management as stated in our position paper of 23/12/2005 on enhanced CEN and CENELEC co-operation.

Orgalime believes that the idea of appointing a single Director General for both of these organisations is neither incompatible nor in conflict with these objectives. Orgalime moreover understands that the appointment of a single Director General for CEN and CENELEC is not intended to necessarily or inevitably lead to a merger of CEN and CENELEC into a single legal entity. Such a merger is strictly opposed by Orgalime.
