Following weeks of speculation, European Commission President-Elect Ursula von der Leyen has today put forward her list of proposed candidates for the new College of Commissioners set to take office in November. The full list of names and portfolios can be viewed here.

For stakeholders like Orgalim that work closely with the Commission on a range of EU policy issues, the structure and allocation of portfolios within the College of Commissioners is highly relevant. "It is good to see the focus on digital and climate. These will be central issues for the future of Europe – and examples where our innovative technology companies will make a major difference," commented Malte Lohan, Orgalim Director General.

Between now and the start of the new Commission’s term, MEPs will meet and evaluate the proposed candidates through a series of confirmation hearings at the European Parliament. The aim is to secure the required green light from parliamentarians by the end of October so that the new College is up and running from 1 November.
