The latest instalment of Orgalim’s Technology at Heart puts Finland centre stage: shining a spotlight on the pioneering companies breaking new ground in technologies for energy efficiency – transforming the challenges posed by climate change into drivers of innovation and economic opportunity.

The report presents case studies from three companies that are innovation leaders in their sectors: ABB Finland, developing energy-efficient electric motors and drives that can reduce emissions by up to 90%; Outotec, responsible for process solutions and technologies that prevented generation of more than 6 million tonnes of CO2 in 2018; and stainless steel producer Outokumpu that is deploying state-of-the-art tech to cut emissions by 50% in a traditionally energy-intensive sector.

Plus, we talk with Jaakko Hirvola, CEO of Technology Industries of Finland and Member of the Orgalim Board of Directors, about how policy can help Finnish companies continue to innovate and drive down emissions in industry and beyond.

This is the latest edition in our Technology at Heart series, which presents stories showcasing how the companies Orgalim represents are shaping a future that’s good for Europe’s economy and society – and how the right policy framework can help them do even more. Previous editions have zoomed in on digitalisation in the German mechanical engineering sectorinnovation and internationalisation in Portuguese metalworking firms, and industry-academia collaboration bringing 5G to the factory floor in Sweden.
