‘Reinventing Europe’s industrial leadership’

At this critical moment for the future of Europe, industry is back in the political limelight. Technological transformation, increasingly fierce global competition and concerns over jobs and skills are stoking fears that Europe is losing the race for industrial leadership. How can the EU safeguard its companies’ competitiveness? By intervening to protect ‘strategic’ sectors from foreign investment? By clearing the way for European champions to compete with state-funded Chinese giants?

And can such approaches continue to reflect the values of openness, innovation and free and fair competition on which European technology companies have built their success in recent decades? Because in fact the EU is already an industrial leader, albeit on different terms to the US or China. Europe’s strength lies in industrial ecosystems that are home to countless technology champions driving innovation across sectors. And these innovations can transform our biggest challenges into opportunities for a greener, more liveable and more prosperous future for EU citizens.

Orgalim’s event ‘Reinventing Europe’s industrial leadership’ will provide a platform to discuss how the EU can build on its industries’ strengths towards 2030 and beyond, as the global competitive landscape is fundamentally redrawn. C-level representatives of Europe’s technology industries will share their experiences of what is enabling and hindering leadership on the ground in their companies – and will discuss the way forward with policy makers.
